Looking for what these were for. Both found in Maryland. Green one found by me in 2015. My wife found the brown one near the same area back in Feb. Crusader had said the green one marked "XII" was for a gold Unite coin but shouldn't that be marked "XXII" ??? Perhaps a half Unite? He dated ca. 1630. Must be close because if these are coin weights for gold coins square ones were outlawed in 1632. The brown one could possibly be for a gold ryal? Doesn't match any of them that I can find though.

Finally, besides the "CR" (i assume for Charles I) stamped onto each, both have "17 1/2" etched into them. Anyone know the significance of that value?

Thanks in advance.

Charles I or maybe Charles II makes sense as they are both Bullion Weights from the 17th C.
PS. To the weight of 12 pennies & 16 pennies.
