I found an area of this in Northern CA, near Dunsmuir/Mt. Shasta.
It looks similar to Indian Paint Rock and I was wondering what it might be. It is fairly soft material. Sheeted. And the design is formed by small cracks that look like they absorbed moisture/minerals. The patters go through the rock and are not just on the surface.
The material varies from this dark silver to a bright red and yellow.
