It could be. Is any portion of that ground at all? A cross section view might also be worth while. Very interesting piece there.

Thanks cannonman! In the area that I am hunting there is very, very little paleo activity. There has been one piece found described as a reddish brown banded ryolite with the same dimensions as my piece. I'mnot sure if mine is ryolite but it is reddish brown banded. I'll throw out a cross section shot later today.

a couple more pics...

Is any portion of it ground smooth along the edges? The cross section looked good-

This would just be my guess but it may not be a point at all. It almost looks like half of a square knife or square-end knife, they are usually only about 2 1/2 to 3 times as long as they are wide. Late Archaic to Historic period 3500 - 400 B.P. (Before Present)

Could be the base to a square knife or one large paleo piece... never found out if the it was ground at all.. if not I would go with the knife idea... if ground the paleo base idea...
Adena man- you went back in the archives to pull this one out! :D
