Panning in wyoming - updated.

Re: Panning in wyoming question for those in the know.

Oh - also it sound like motorized methods can not start until july 1st. But does this also apply to hand panning?

Re: Panning in wyoming question for those in the know.

Wyoming is asking for a letter of intent,a sneaky way to get you to accually fillout a Letter of understanding (LOA). it is volentary to do so! all they are claiming right now is that they just want to know who/where/when/and with what type of equipment your using and to let people know that they only have the 21 day camping time limit. no "permit" is needed for anything! for mechinized equipment, there is a three inch nozzel limit for that. this letter they want isnt required by law but to get along most people simply fill it out in duplicate and give it to them. its free. one thing you need to besure of and that there are lots of claimed land/streams up there and you need to NOT be on somes claim. im sure you know that but i just wanted to inform others that maybe dont know. mechinized equipment has a starteing date of July1 to Sept.10. after reading the guideline 19 on page 2 , 4th paragraph down it says panners need this LOI also. they are EZ to obtain. walk in to their office and fill it out in duplicate(One for you and one for them)and leave. or call them (you should have their phone number and ask for them to mail you the LOI. i did this years back and now i just call them and they update my application and mail me on.the FS there in Larime Wyoming are very friendly and EZ to get along with if you go by the rules.hope this helped you!

Re: Panning in wyoming question for those in the know.

LOL - thanks for the invite. But I am a migrainer. Any alcohol and half an hour later I am hurtin. Its just not worth it for me. No alcohol, coffee, anything with MSG or its dozen other names they put in premade food. I have gotten very good at not getting them from what I eat. But some people get upset when I turn down their meals and such. I am very persnickity on eating for that reason and most people just don't understand.

Plans are to be in colorado mid june and again in august. Not far from wyoming so I just thought I would get up to date on their regs in case I cross over. So if I don't do this with this LOA I am not gonna get pinched? Only panning and back pack plastic sluicin.

Re: Panning in wyoming question for those in the know.

Ok heres some questions for you wyoming experts. Pamphlet 19 says class 2 waters open july 1st. Not 1 and 2, or 2 and up. Hand panning, non motorized sluice is legal in class 1. So is it legal in class 2 before july 1st and they just do a pathetic job of clarification?

I have called 5 different offices. One of them specifically listed in P 19 and they say they have nothing to do with the regs. Then why list them.. Grrrr. All older ladies with no clue and saying oh you have to call here, call here , call here.....

Is it any wonder the govt is hated so much.

Re: Panning in wyoming question for those in the know.

Just talked to a person at the DEQ and was told that they haven't done the permits for 2 years now. They were asked (by who she did't say) to no longer do them. Asked about the july 1st rule and she said they were no longer involved. Seems like quite a clown act out there!

Yup them clowns have spread all over the west coast to. ::)

Hefty

clown act or not. this info they would like to have isnt required by anyone or any law. this info "they say" is just for them to know where people are if incase of an emergency." ive never seen them go down to the creek to check for this "letter" but i have seen them on the flats asking to see them. its free and to keep them happy and us dredgeing,we have been obliging them with this. id hate to see where they reqire a paid permit. also if anyone is expecting to goto Douglas Creek and camp on the "flats" your plans might get changed! the Laramie USFS has contracted a logging company to log off all the dead trees and thewy will be setup on the flats. the bridge over DC will be tore out and a wider/stronger bridge will be built. they will be up there for 2 years. logging trucks may become very hazardious, as well as parking alongside of the road to access a claim.further checking about this is needed!!!! my trip to DC Wyoming maybe cancelled! camping space will be at a priemium there!

How to destroy a good thing = Government Involvement. :o >:(

well i dont have anything against the gubermint itself, but its the wacogreen enviromentalists that are in there trying their best to make us beleive in their warped lies/ideas!
