Panning/sluicing around placerville

Hello, I want to do some panning and maybe some sluicing around the placerville area. Anybody care to give out some hints as far as decent open areas to poke around?

Try the blm greenwood parking area off of hiway 49 between Coloma and pilot hill. Very close access to the river. Beware that the river will rise usually by 11 so be ready and do not loose your equipment.
