One of my favorite "hunted out" old parks gave this up today

It's marked AE 14k on one end and PAT 1697315 on the other and weighs 8.8 grams.

It was about 4" down and was a crappy bouncy signal.

It just goes to show you that you have to dig EVERYTHING!

Nice find but you might want to get it tested. I believe AE might mean electroplate. I hope it is the real deal.

This is all I can find out about the AE mark so far.

AE (A Edmondson [ E ]) 19th c./1st half

And

AE Adam Eastwick Birmingham Chester 1888 - 1895


That's crazy if I just found 100+ year old gold.
