Nice find but you might want to get it tested. I believe AE might mean electroplate. I hope it is the real deal.
 

This is all I can find out about the AE mark so far.

AE (A Edmondson [ E ]) 19th c./1st half

And

AE Adam Eastwick Birmingham Chester 1888 - 1895


That's crazy if I just found 100+ year old gold.
