I have a code for texting my gal-pal when I go metal detecting; "I'm off to see the Wizard" . Well, today I really saw the wizard! I dug up a huge platinum wedding band, wider than a quarter and weighing 11.3 dwt. (56.5% of a troy ounce). Thank you, Wiz! The inside diameter of the ring is .9".

About those nicks: I forgot my glove in the car and I was too lazy to go back. I nicked the ring while using my digger to fish the ring out of the hole. My bad. I will always bring a glove in the future.

Very nice ring. Out of curiosity, what was it reading on your detector? I've never hit platinum before.

I too am curious as to how the detector reads platinum ? Nice find !!

It says in the video VDI 33, pop tab. Great find! Haven't found platinum yet.

Very nice Platinum! Congrats!

Holy flying monkeys!!!! Awesome score. Congrats to you.
I've only dug one PLAT wedding band myself in over 10 yrs.

I've checked three plat rings so far; this one which has a band about 5mm wide, and is ring size 14; a 2mm wide Tiffany band about size 6, and a "normal" man's band about 4mm and maybe size 10 to 11. On my White's Spectrum Eagle, which has a VDI scale that I think reads out very much like the XLT, I got a mid-30's on the big one, about 11 on the little one, and mid 20's on the normal size man's band. So the big one was a pretty high tab reading; the normal size band was like a normal pull-tab, that is about like a nickel, and the small one was a high foil/small ring signal. I think, compared to gold, Platinum may signal somewhat lower, but is pretty much in the same range. So, if you dig for gold, you will also dig platinum.

Appreciate the update, looks like all kinds of goodies hide on the lower end of the VDI.

I dug for a long time without using gloves....I was always aware that there may be glass or other objects in the hole.......dirt won't hurt ya....really.
I did find a good pair of tight fitting gloves though....and do wear them now all the time.
That's a nice ring.....I still haven't come across the platinum yet

That's on my wish list!

Congrats!!!
