my mom used to have a hat like that. My uncle brought it back to her when he served in Vietnam as a B-52 engine mechanic during the war. She never wore it though.

Funny you should mention this, as I once looked all over for a decent "coolie" hat. One of its advantages is it protects your neck. The one shown on the motorcycle lady (and poster) is too small! I want one about twice that diameter. Remember, if you're looking down, a small one won't protect your neck. As it stands now, I just use my extra golf towel.
