Went through some rolls of pennies that I had laying around.

And an AWFULLY weird colored 1983.... just an abnormal coin, or something more? I'll have to scan later. It's more Gold in color... like an irrodesent gold.

Hi,
The 1983 is "brass" plated rather then copper plated as it should be. It will be more golden in color and in some case moving toward a greenish tint. When the copper for the plating was being mixed, impurities changed the alloy to brass. They are collectible as errors and can go anywhere from a few dollars to maybe twenty dollars depending on the date involved and how common it is.
