I have a permission from the Community Board of a small community here in Florida that has one of the few remaining Rosenwald Schools in Florida. There is currently a Bill in the Florida legislature to try to make funding available to restore these schools. This school was built in 1925-1926 with funding from the Rosenwald family, who were the founders of Sears & Roebuck stores.
Anything I find I am turning over to the community. I am hoping to find some tangible school artifacts for them. Nothing so far.

Today's finds: (Minus all the can slaw, pulltabs, bottle tops, and other trash)

Here are some photos of everything I have saved from my two visits, that wasn't total scrap. (Silvers above are not below.)

Just Getting started there. I doubt anyone has been there. All I can do in about 5 hours is about 100' of swinging. Can slaw, pulltabs, screw caps, bits of everything you can think of. Was there once before pulled up more coins that day, but no silver. I am actually very surprised to find silver in only my second outing! Didn't actually expect to find any here.

These schools were built in poor African-American communities where the children were not getting any educations. Most were built in Georgia, Alabama, & Mississippi. I think only around 40 were built in Florida, and there are only 3 known to still be standing, and the other two are on the historic registry.

Keep it up! There's more there! Hows the knee?

Congrats on the coins, relics and display! :occasion14:

Good hunting and way to plow through those pulltab signals!

Well done a silver dime and the nickle and other nice finds way to go bet theres more goodies waiting on you
