002.webpI decided to hunt a cut-over today not to far down the road. They finally got the majority of the logs out, so I figured it would be a good time to check it out.I was scoping out some hill tops with my machine and was getting no sound, then that little guy on the lower right caught my eye.I was thrilled to see it ,but I didn't get to excited because that is the way I have always found them 'when I do" it is always just one that seems to be isolated. After I found it I really had my eyes open and sure enough there was another. So I went to the next hill top scoping some more with the machine and found two more.No signs of old metal, so I put my machine on my shoulder just looking for points the whole way back.I have never found them like that and it was something else, to me anyway.I think I am hooked!joe

Nice points, always a bonus when the detecting isn't going good, my 11yr old has picked up 2 stone axes while we were detecting.

It's not easy finding that many in a day. Good eye Id hit that spot again soon as it rains.

Thanks for the tip collector.Coincidentally it just started raining here a little while ago.Are there any other tips you wouldn't mind sharing for going out and finding them?

Nice finds! Same thing happened to me. I haven't bought new batteries for my M.D. in a few years, just new glasses, since I started finding stone artifacts around here. Any high ground around or near water is a good place to look. Look for worked stone of all colors, I find a few different types of worked stone around here in many different colors. Creeks can also be very productive, I have good luck in our local creek. Most important, move slow, look at anything that looks like it might be worked, most pieces won't be just lying on top of the ground, you might only see a small corner sticking out from a complete piece. It pays to check out everything that might be something. Hope this info helps, good luck and happy hunting.

Your welcome. I swung a Whites Eagle for over 20 years, hunted Centerville and Manassas throughout the 80s, it was fun. But like you said, its a completely different rush finding artifacts that are thousands of years old.

Nice point finds! I am still looking, probably have past over quite a few.
