How do you tell it’s palm? Isn’t there a certain structure to look for?

I'm just going by what an experienced collector told me years ago when I showed them to him. I think he is probably correct but personally I don't have a clue!

The Texas pet palmwood has striations which I don't see in these. It could be coral.

Garscale posted some great examples of Texas Palm Wood in the Jim Hopper thread. Just look for the polka dots and stripes. You can’t miss them.
 

Nice points! Petrified wood is a raw material we never see here in the Midwest. I've found small pieces in the glacial till but it's never good enough quality to work.
