petrified antler?

well this is beyond my experience...I find a lot of petrified wood and lots of agatized marine life, clams, snails, nautiloids, and the like but is this a petrified antler tine? First off, it is 100% most definitely stone. It looks, even in color with that white tip, like an elk tine. I posted a close up of the surface pattern...and how about that rectangular open end? Anyone see this before?

Whew that’s a tricky one, other options that come to mind are part of a pelvis or scapula... or less exciting some sort of coral or geologic anomaly.

I doubt it's an antler. Antlers are solid bone, not hollow.

Antlers are solid. I think what you may have is a giant ground sloth claw sheath. Or some smaller ground sloth of the Holocene era.

I wanted to say possibly a sort of claw sheath but I don’t have much experience with claws so I refrained. Since you put it out there I can get behind it.

It sure looks like a fossilized tooth or claw sheath. You can see the growth layers in the third photo. That is a thinker for sure.

yeah, but that rectangle hole in the base and the pattern on the surface make me think not.

Depends on the soil. And we're talking 10,000 years ago. Not 65,000,000.
