This button was dug by one of my digging compatriots and is pewter. Button was found in central South Carolina along with other flat buttons and late 18th century coins. Hard to make out the letterage. I can see an "18" maybe and "B" , maybe an "I". Shank is not intact but you can see where it would have been. Button measures 3/4" inch wide. Hope someone can identify this buttons age and purpose.
