I just noticed the design on this pewter disc yesterday when cleaning out my finds from a site that is early 18th to early 19th century. It is almost a 1/4 of an inch thick and around 1 1/2 inches wide. I do not recognise the design and was hoping someone else does. Art

If you clean it I bet it would loose all the detail so who knows what it could be

I cleaned it very lightly hoping to bring out a little more of whats hidden, it still looks like a tree on one side and an eagle on the other. Its probably a chicken and a bad haircut. I have looked at it so hard I'm starting to see things. The site it came from had rev and war of 1812 artifacts. Just hoping someone can put a finger on it. I'll soak it in baking soda to slow down the deterioration. Art

Sure looks like a tree and eagle as you describe, even a branch or exuerge under the bird...
Will be watching this, hope you get some results
Thanks for showing! Herbie

Thanks Herbie, It seems there is always that one thing that is not recognizable but has enough info to tease the heck out of yah. This could be an iconic piece of history or the top to a beer stien. Designs on both sides, thick pewter , eagle and tree???
