It's been a long, long while. I do see a few familiar folks from my previous time here. Anyhow, I'm back. Older...but I doubt much wiser. I'm going to need a new machine. I've already narrowed it down to either a Minelab X-terra Elite or a Simplex Triple Score. Learning curve isn't a factor. Price wise with my wants, it's a wash. Hunting will be beach and woods. I was leaning toward the Triple Score, but seeing lots of videos and reading lots of comments, the un-soothing tone and excessive? chatter has me questioning the decision. It took me years for my ears to recover from the obnoxious noises my early ACE emitted. Give me your 2 cents so I can blame someone besides myself

I'm partial to Minelab, but maybe it would be good to see if you can try them out first.

They are both cheap enough that if you don't like one, you can trade it for another or sell it and buy another machine. You also have the Garrett AT PRO, which is an easy machine to use and get used to and good for both land and beach hunting. A lot of people are using the Minelab Xterra Elite.

Thanks. While I'm sure it's a capable machine, for various reasons I decided against considering the AT Pro. The Minelab appears to have such a smooth tone and dumb as it may sound, unless there is some major advantage to one over the other, it's likely what I'll make my decision on..

They sure seem so in the videos I've been watching. I actually don't think I'd have so much of an issue it, but combined with its tone, I'm not sure.

I'm starting to like the Legend... it has a full blown case of verbal outburst disorder,, but when it settles, it is pretty positive when over a target.. reliably so.
