Had planned on spending some quality time at my picnic grounds today, the weather was cool and comfortable and I was all prepared for a much needed day off. Then my cell phone rings Thursday, "Everyone's working this Friday", a "force" as the phone company calls it. @!$%&^#!!!............in other words I was so mad I said Heck!! At least the boss let me out early today. I went back to the shop, grabbed my truck and headed up to my hotspot. I got in 2 hours before they closed the park. The first swing of the coil gives me a '65 quarter at 4 inches deep, just missed!! Next target I dig a 1943 merc and 1947 Rosie from the same hole. A few minutes later I had a multiple coin hole with several nickels and pennies. I found another 1943 merc, then another '43 merc
. A little while later I dig 2 early wheats and a 1920 merc from 1 hole. I had pretty much completed the big field and reluctantly moved on to the patch of uneven ground near the newer picnic shelter. This area looked disturbed, new and trashy. Boy was I wrong, the first target sounded like sweet old silver, and sure enough at 4 or more inches I pull a nice 1913 Barber dime. Wheats were common and on the other side of the shelter I found the final silver dime.........another 1913 Barber.
