Do you find sifters helpful when metal detecting in waters that are still enough to use them?
I made two different size sifters and was surprised that the 18” sifter was plenty large enough to hold a couple of scoopfuls without sinking or spilling over. My 25” sifter is reinforced by a ¾” x 1.5” wood frame where the 18” is small enough to not require reinforcement.
Small = 18” x 18” (11” sifting area) with ¼” holes and weights 20 ounces
Large = 25” x 25” (18” sifting area) with ¼” holes and weights 2.5 lbs
They also serve a dual purpose because my wife used them to find 883 sharks teeth down in Southwest Florida last weekend.
Makes up for me not finding any Au or Ag during my 10 hours of searching down in the waters of the Gulf…
