Piece of flint?

AB0A7AC8-1E5E-4727-9E16-F06F4C2087E5.webpFound this at a early tavern site owner a capt in local militia rev war and also used by GW for a few weeks as temp headquarters found this odd object which rang up a High tone not sure what it is thought it might be coal but I do t think it is could it be flint? Not much to photo but here it is

Coal does it sets off detector also in England coke sets it off

Not flint. Can't say what it is but I can say it's not flint. Flint is a variety of quartz.

If it "rings up a high tone" especially. Flint has no conductive properties.

What’s the weight on it? Also might try doing a test where you try a magnet on it, if not magnetic, then judging by color it’s possibly lead. Lead will ring up in high tones, so will brass or copper

Thanks I’ll check it out it isn’t very heavy I’ll weigh it when I can find my scale lol

If at the very least find some lead, run it under detector check numbers, copper, brass, same thing. Worse comes to worse then try using a knife to cut a small piece off

Not arguing more curious but coal is compressed organic material making it mostly carbon how does it trip a detector?

not sure but it sets it off both the detector and pinpointer often rings up 86 on the deus if I knew how to post a video I would show you lol

Interesting I’ve never had a problem with coal, maybe there’s just not that much around here, lots of charcoal but I guess no coal.
