Don't know much about this little necklace piece. Found it at a park in Atwater California. There is a mark where the chain would go and on the figure on back that say 0900 not sure what that means. Hoping it is maybe silver with my luck probably not but still pretty neat. mir_20200822_181442.webpmir_20200822_181612.webpmir_20200822_181706.webp

900 usually means the silver is 900 fine or 90%. Neat find, hope it turns out to be silver!

Cleaned with a little tooth paste pretty sure it is silver. Looks great once shined up and it is holding some sort of green gem. Looks like a gem in a raw form

It looks South American. Here's a statue from Tiahuanaco, Bolivia. Gary

Yes he’s probably Columbian. Classic precolumbian design popular w tourists. The little guy is depiction of a famous megalith sculpture. He’s probably holding a small rough emerald pebble.

Cute little thing.

There are a fair few of these kicking around, marked 0900, and they are usually claimed to be from the 1950s and definitely South American. They’re often attributed to Colombia (but none definitely proven to be so) although Colombia is not the only South American country to have used 0900 as a silver mark. I would be sure it is silver, and to .900 fineness.

They’re usually said to be representations of Inca/Maya/Aztec gods but with no particular credence for that attribution. One seller claimed his to be a representation of the ‘Inca Corn God’, but in fact the Inca deity of corn was a goddess (Saramama, or ‘Mother Corn’).

Personally, I think Colombia is a highly likely origin and that the representations are inspired by Inca deities, but not of particular gods or goddesses… which usually have things in their hands related to their mythology.

In modern times they’re often represented holding a rough (non-gem quality) emerald, which is a modern embellishment, not traditional imagery. Lots of variations on the theme too, like these:

First silver jewelry ever for me. Been using my At Pro for years now. I've found 4 silver dimes, wheat pennies. Lots of neat little relics but not much jewelry or valuable coin wise. Guess I'm either bad at the hobby or just haven't had access to good areas.
