I have a garrett and like it. I have not had a chance to try the minelab pi pointer but i have heard rave reciews about it. The garrett can be had at a great price lately and even bundles with a digger for less than the price of the pinpointer alone.

Garrett all the way!...there is a bundle going on right now that sounds pretty good....I believe kellyco is doing this bundle

Can't go wrong with the almost bulletproof Garret Pro-Pointer. But I have a Pistol Probe. I get anywhere from 4-6 inches depth with it, and can dial it back to about 1 inch. I like it, but it is a poor design. And when it breaks I'm going to make it AWESOME. But you can't go wrong with a Garrett.

Welcome to Tnet! If you need something waterproof, the VibraProbe is a nice pinpointer also. It doesn't beep but vibrates to let you know the target is close by. The pulse speeds up the closer you get to the target to help you zero in on it's location. Some detectors can be fitted with a Sunray probe that uses the battery and controls of the main detector so you hear the sounds through your headphones just like using the main coil. Pretty cool setup. The slight drawback is the extra weight you have to swing and possibly more snags if you hunt woods or bushes.

First of all, what type of detector are you using, and does it have a built in pin pointer. :dontknow:

Unlike the majority here, my detector has a built in pin pointer, so I don't bother with a hand held one. If it has a built in pin pointer, you really don't need a pin pointer, so save your money. Everyone will tout about it cuts down recovery time and I just laugh and say, what will it save you a few seconds. Or the most part you've already located a good general area of your target and I surely don't need to micro-manage by introducing a smaller detecting device.

There, I saved you well over $100, so go out and buy wife/girlfriend a nice dinner with that savings. Oh yeah, you can toss me a few bucks too :tongue3:
