Pinpointing with the F2

Just bought a F2. Pleased with it so far. When I find a target, I follow the instructions in the manual. I move the coil off the target and lower it to the ground. Then I hit the pinpoint button and raise the coil two inches off the ground and find the target. When I repeat the process to narrow the area of the pinpoint, the target disappears. Other than raising the coil over the target, any suggestions to improve the pinpointing?

Try not to narrow the area and listen for the loudest tone when you go over the target with the pinpoint, I will make and x over the target go find the loudest tone. Hope this will help.
