Years ago I picked this item up at a large local auction consisting of mainly revolutionary and civil war period relics and artifacts, and vintage Native American leather goods.

I am pretty certain the stem is not the original but suspect the rest may very well be. I know I have seen pics of authentic pieces very similar to mine, and one had the same type plug in the end as mine. But I never saw any modern pipe axes that have the plug.

Anway, I am hoping someone may know a little about these and give a little insight.
