Hey Everyone,

New to the forum and asking for help. I found this unique piece in Delta County, TX a few weeks ago. It was within a stone throw of a Golodrina point I found a couple weeks before that. I have posted on another site but nothing confirmed so I thought I would try here.

Recessed line on the artifact does not go to the end. It is raised.

Yes I reposted due to a recommendation.

Any ideas?

Most of the time, small round rocks with holes are natural, I don't think that's the case here. Man made, but I have no clue why or what for.

Yeah, that's a.... It's a.... I have no idea what that is. With the reverse is looks like a suspension hole but I've never seen a been quite like that. very interesting.

Clearly man made. I don't have a clue who nor when . almost looks like some kind of pipe but I can't make heads or tails of that. Very interesting item.

Hanging oil lamp? Probably not.

Here are the pics of the Golondrina point found within 20 yards of the unknown above. Now, are they related, who knows right? It is a river. I still need to get it authenticated and graded.

Disclaimer..I cannot draw a straight line with a ruler and apparently with Excel. These are the "pretty" close measurements of the piece. I will admit the holes and beveled line seem to line up dead center.

Interesting rock, Never seen anything like that. My guess is something to do with the tepee or drying of food. Maybe?

Nice point. Very Nice.

I don't understand the reasoning of getting it authenticated and graded. That is just an opinion. If you found it..........

I did find it. To top it off it is my first point find ever. I might want to sell it one day. If it is wort insuring I want to do so. I was told it might be worth more than a dollar. I do not know :dontknow: if it is but am learning fast.

You can actually watch the video on Youtube under North Texas Fossil Dude. I was so excited to find it that I missed the vertebrae that was within a couple inches. I went back to get that vertebrae in the next video.

Nice finds! Could be the bearing block to a bow drill, hole is for wearing around neck or wrist... cool find for sure.

I'm going to throw this out there but to me it resembles one of old type of insulator as far as shape and the way holes line up with the groove on the back. Doesn't look ceramic though unless it's just covered in something from being in the water.

Just my two cents.

There was a piece very similar to this one on here a number of years ago. I believe it was identified as modern but I can't remember what the ID was.

Awesome point!

From everything we know about paleo peoples, they did not have or make objects like your "whatsit". The vert fossil, the point, the unknown piece, and a broken piece of modern glass could very well all be right there and not related.

I do believe Grim has it. I have been able to locate a porcelain household insulator that matches up pretty well. Tumbling in the river would remove the porcelain and just leave the inside. stock-photo-old-electrical-fuse-box-with-porcelain-fuses-715859263.webp v'j

I really appreciate everyone's input. I am not disappointed because I have made some new cool contacts and leaned something new.

Must be a reject insulator. Doesn’t have the center hole for attaching it to a post.
