Hmm, appears I commented on the first post too. That was a long time ago. Well, since it appears that there are more than one of them, it would lend support to it being a souvenir of some kind. There may yet be value too it, depending on how old it is.

The marine chronometer (for the determination of longitude) was still in its development stage in 1759. The application of this devise was not commercially used until the 1760s. Therefore, the longitude could not have been determined in that year except by William Harrison (in England) who had the only watch capable of making such a determination. Souvenir sounds good to me.

The buckle was only worth $ 7.00 .. The leather belt was a bit more valuable at $ 23.96 .. It's a fine piece of leather don't you know?
