Pirometer?

Has anyone every heard of probe that is pushed into the ground that when comes in contact with precious metal or iron it makes different sounds. Talked to a guy years ago that had one made buy someone he new. It was awesome!!!

It was a long skinny metal rod you could push into th the ground to check a target you found with your detector before digging a plug.
