Just a heads up for e-trac users i recently bought an e-trac and have been using the detector pro pistol probe pinpointer, I get alot of interference between the the two it doesnt matter how far away I move the e-trac coil i've tried as far as it will reach the pinpointer works great if I turn the e-trac off but who wants to turn it off every time you need to pinpoint anyway its not a huge deal but its annoying and I thought i'd give a heads up if anyone knows how to fix this problem please let me know, thanks - RonnieAZ

That is interesting, I also have a pistol probe and it will interfere with my Tesoro's as well. However, you can swing the coil out a foot and a half or so and it's ok.. The Pistol probe is actually a hand held PI metal detector which would make sense for the interference. I can understand your frustration, but I have to say, I love that Pistol Probe! Shallow things you can actually point right at it and in the hole you can narrow it right down. Just took a little practice and I love it.

I put the same topic in last week. I have bought a Garrett pinpointer and it works fine with my Etrac. I originally was using my Sunray in line probe but it does add a fair bit of weight to the detector. This is why I am now using the garrett as a lighter alternative. seyya Neil

Try pressing the noise cancel button it may help.

I did a little tweaking on the frequency knob on the probe it helped some but the e-trac uses so many frequencies I doubt I can find one that wont give interference I have to move the coil as far as I can reach while crouched down to pinpoint approx 6 feet to make the probe stable. I do like the pistol probe it works great and has good depth I wont stop using it although it isnt a big problem its a little annoying, It is a very deep probe maybe a little interference is worth it, again just a heads up for others to be aware of. - RonnieAZ

I have an E-Trac and the pocket UniProbe. I can usually eliminate interference by changing the frequency and laying the coil out to the side of me instead of laying it in front of me where the target I'm pinpointing is located. One thing I found while using the UniProbe with my Explorers and E-Trac is if you have Deep activated the UniProbe flats tears the detector up. I have no problems with the pocket UniProbe and My Spectra V3, F70, MXT or Compadre. The only other detector besides the Explorers and E-Trac that the UniProbe really tore up was my TDI. I actually had to turn the TDI off to use the UniProbe.

Hey Phil the problem ive ben having isnt with the detector making noise although it does chatter a little its the probe its self that goes crazy and makes pin pointing very hard I do change the frequency and if I place the coil as far away as I can reach it works ok " about 6 feet away seems to work" in a park or any flat easy to work field its not a huge problem but I often detect in more rugged area's here in arizona large rocks and boulders on hill sides along with tree's, brush and a few cactus some times make it very hard to set the coil far enough away its a big enough problem some times I dont bring my probe because I dont want to deal with the extra trouble and often when I dont bring it is when I wish I had its amazing how hard it is to pin point a coin thats wedged inbetween rocks or a deep crevice you cant get your coil all the way into. - RonnieAZ

I use the Detectorpro Uniprobe with both my Minelab Sovereign GT and my Whites 6000 XL PRO and there is no problem with either unit.............. :dontknow:
