Been using the probe for about seven months. Gone through about four sets of batteries.....The button got to sticking and I started bumping it with the palm of my hand to free it. Yesterday the barrell broke when I bumped it. Glued it back and it worked for a while. Now when you turn it on by pressing the button or using the knob it constantly hums like encountering metal.......May be toast?....anyone else have problems with the button on the Pistol Probe?

Got mine last June. In the fall, when the ground was wet, I started noticing that it was still staying on and sounding off even after I had stopped pressing the button and had moved it away from the target. I'm pretty sure it was from dirt and mud getting into the opening around the button. I corrected this by cutting a piece of plastic from a drop cloth and wrapping it around the probe where the button is and rubber-banding it in place. Now I can still press the button and it keeps the dirt out so I don't have that problem anymore. If it had gotten any worse though, then I might have had to take it apart somehow and clean it out. I don't know if your having the same problem, but you might want to try some type of electronics cleaning spray first.
