When this thing popped out of the ground yesterday it created one of those instant metal detecting mysteries. Unfortunately soap and water cleaning did almost nothing to help solve it. It seems lighter than it should be which is what made me think foreign coin. I'm hoping someone out there with knowledge of foreign coins can help with I.D. Thanks for looking.

The photos are out of focus and it makes viewing of what it is hard.
Need to do it in natural lighting, review the photos for clarity-then post up again.
Have you tried a magnet on it?

Diameter is 15.9-16.0mm. Only US coin in that range is the half dime, but the half dime is silver; this appears as copper.
Coin looks too far gone to ID, but as 'pepperj' suggested, new pics in sharper focus may help.
Don....

Can't make out the coin other than it being round and brown.

Could it be a button?
