I have been growing garlic since 1989. A famous local grower gave me two bulbs. I felt honored that he gave them to me as he would not give them to anyone. A couple of beers at the local gin mill loosened him up. I have kept this strain going from the original two bulbs. I plant in early Oct and grow about 150 plants. It is the best garlic I have ever eaten and now I am that famous grower.Planted each garlic clove approximately
3-1/2 to 4 inches deep last November .
They are starting to come up now and each clove should form a complete bulb.
Will dig them up this July
Pepperj..when I removed the heavy coat of shredded straw and seeing the garlic it was a beautiful sight to see as I had thought I had planted way to late last November..Ah that's a sight for sore eyes Bill
Congrats on another successful season ahead in the harvesting of the bulbs.
Mine are still in bed, under a blanket of straw, covered with snow.
Getting close though, the melt is on, getting another inch of rain over the next few days followed by temps bouncing from mid 30's to the mid 50's.
