Found a chonky ring in the river today, weighs in at 16 grams says PLATINUM-L inside, but is it? What do you guys think. I'll get the density on monday.

Looks like the lighter version of that ring style?

It's definitely an L. I actually found someone selling one online! Think i can get 2.7k for mine? JK but I'm pretty sure it's the most valuable thing I've found. If it fit me I would prefer it were a pt-ir alloy b/c those things are nearly indestructible and just plain cool.

Awesome!!! Congrats!!!

For a ring this size to weight 16 gr I would think it is indeed platinum. Great find! Don't see them often on the forum. I doubt it can be sold for 2.7k , as with any jewellery, it loses a huge part of its value once it's out of the jeweller shop. Hopefully you can.

The metal looks strange under magnification have you tried to clean it up or did you do an electrolysis on it?

platinum is $27.25 a gram
you will only get scrap for a band like that

Looks genuine to me! :icon_thumright:

Neat ring! Congratulations, and thanks for sharing with us!

What did it ring up on your AT, or rather the number/numbers, also mid tone?

Congratulations on the ever elusive platinum!! Yeah, once you hold a pt ring you feel the weight and know without a doubt it is the real McCoy.

It's hard to say, it was sitting in a little gravel bar behind a rapid under a bridge where people like to hang out, after I pulled it out I found some lead and a few lincolns in the same hole. I'll hit it with the pro when I get home.

Wow, outstanding!!! Congratulations
