Hi All,

I'm in England and new to this site, which looks amazing.

My 11 year old daughter is really getting into rocks. She's got a few nice pieces already, but she bought this one from a charity shop. Looks like marble but it has some brown parts as well. Can anyone confirm what it is?

I hope you can see the picture.

Many thanks!

Northrock.

Pakistan Green Onyx I believe. Also in the America's you'll find souvenirs such as bookends and ashtray's made of a similar looking green onyx from Mexico.

Right ID by Tamrock but the use commercially of the name onyx is a misnomer. That is actually banded calcite and not a true onyx.
