Strange outcrop ?

Hi just wonder could there be any "Gems/Crystal's" in this type of outcrop ? i have only been here once and did not dig around only took photos. Its located off of hwy 395 in the sierra mountains. Thanks for any info.

Columnar basalt. I believe it's rare for them to contain anything of interest, but you really have to look to find out.
