Hi everybody. This item I dug last year is driving me insane. What the heck is it? It is 11" long and is made of solid brass. The tines are very, very pointy but not very sharp. It was dug in an area with some civil war history, but there was also a small farm on the property at one time. I had posted this last year but could not get an infinitive answer. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Petrified Pine Needles.

If you're satisfied with the answer being a lightning rod, you can green check this thread

Thanks for the replies. I am now convinced it is a lightning rod tip but why cant I find another one like this anywhere? It must have been the only one made! haha

Thanks for taking the time to help me but again, none of these samples replicate this piece. I think if you held it you would understand. Its extremely well made. I guess the homemade idea works but someone put alot of time into making a lightning rod tip this structurally sound and of brass. I'm still not convinced. :(

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.

Lightening rod tip sounds likely. It also could be pigeon spikes for the eave of a house.
