Hello Friends,

I'm glad that some experts on this forum can be helpful. This specimen was recently picked from a mine were tourmaline and other gems are dug.

I'm a rookie when it comes to rocks and minerals and im not sure if this is a quartz or calcite. Your opinions will be highly appreciated. IMG-20151215-WA0001.webp

I am not an expert, but it looks to me like quartz with low grade blue-green beryl.

rock id

Any tests done? Hardness? Streak color? What was immediately surrounding it?
You can also test the rock with a weak acid (5-10%HCL or vinegar ). If you hear a fizz, the rock is a carbonate, ~calcite.
