I am new and trying to narrow down my list to make a purchase for my wife and I.

Here is my requirements;

Under $1,000.00
We are in Missouri which is LOADED with rocks in our area.
We have no need for it to be waterproof.
I definitely need a light weight or 2 piece one as I have 2 torn Rotator Cuffs.
We would be looking for silver, gold, and relics.

These are the ones suggested to me, any help to narrow my list is appreciated.

Garrett ATX
Garrett AT Gold

Garrett ACE 350

Sorry Also;

CC, well I am sure you will get a ton of opinions on this topic but let me throw my two cents in. First off, upfront I am not an experienced detectorist, I have been at this less than a year, in that year I have learned that Detectors are just like cars and golf clubs. I like Ford's, you like Chevy's so I guess what I am saying is my answer may not be the correct one. I too have had both shoulders done so I can relate to your issue. The machines you list with the exception of the ATX weigh between 2.7-3.03 pounds and cost under $1000, the ATX lists at 6.9 lbs and cost $2500. I have an AT PRO and I really really like it. Now having said that, I can tell you that the balance of the machine does not feel like 3lbs when you have the stock coil on it. After 3 or 4 hours of swinging I know it! But when I have the 5x8 coil on there it is very light and I don't tire. Also I got the wireless kit for mine which is just nice not being hung with my headphone cord LOL. I will tell you that there is a machine that I find very intriguing at the is the Deus, under two pounds, telescoping handle so it's compact and it's wireless. A lot of people on this forum swear by it, but same goes for any of the other brands...cars and golf clubs. I hope you find one that you will like, this hobby bites hard and is tons of fun! GL&HH

If you will be prospecting in difficult soil a lot, a PI is the way to go.
If the Garrett is too heavy, there are other brands and models, and the used market too.

Thank you everyone i decided on a Used Deus, Thanks again to all.
