HI~ Hoping someone smart can help me with this piece of what I think is a type of petrified wood. I've searched online for photos of similar pieces and come up with nothing similar. It has that Cypress knee shape but more rough. Is it just a piece of petrified branch? Any help would be so appreciated. It's about 3 1/2" tall and 5" long and 2 pounds. Thanks so much for any help!!

what kind of help do you need? Yes it is petrified wood...yes it is part of a tree...no can't really tell you what kind of tree...need to know where it came out of the ground to guess at age/type. It does resemble the stuff from Vantage, WA but that isn't saying much.

Oh, sorry, should have clarified...it was picked up at a thrift shop in South Carolina, so no idea where the previous owner got it. It was found along with the agate rock I also posted about. Thanks for the info. I will look at the stuff from Vantage, WA for more clues. Always great to get info from the members of this Forum! Thanks again!
