This is driving me nuts. I found this about 5 inches down, behind an old shack deep in the woods. It looks like it might have been chrome at one time. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Looks like part of a window latch.

Best,

Kinda looks like it could part of a side view auto mirror.

Also looks like it could be the pivot point for a early windshield.

My brain isn't working right now, but I think it is the lock mechanism for the triangular vent window that used to be on the front doors of cars.

What are those windows called? Vent windows?

Kinda looks like part of an old toilet seat hinge.

It is part of a toilet seat hinge/bracket.

P.S. I see I'm one minute too late on my ID...

I disagree on the toilet hinge because the material looks like pot metal / die cast. Toilet seat hardware should be brass.

Just a guess but it looks like part of a school desk the old kinds that you would see in one room school houses the hinge part or a part of a treadle sewing machine cabinet.
