For all you who dump at PNC bank, I just found out that they are removing coin counters from all branches on September 30. Too bad, those machines (when they were working) could swallow up hundreds of halves at one time. Not looking forward to dumping at TD, where the halves bag fills at $100.

All PNCs or just the local ones where you are? This plus the $500 minimum checking balance means I'm closing my PNC account. Looks like Ally Bank is going to be my primary checking account.

At least my area. I have an auto loan with them, so my checking account is free and has no minimums.

This will hurt - not a lot of banks with counters in my area. I refuse to re-roll and drop off boxes of dumps.

Even if you do have an automobile loan, they will start charging a surcharge for the Standard PNC checking accounts if you do not keep a $500 minimum balance.

I agree, PNC sucks. Everyone close your accounts and stay away from PNC.

Something tells me PNC is your honeyhole! :laughing7:

PNC is my all around go to bank. I never dump at PNC. I have had my very best teller tray scores at PNC's. I also order tons of boxes from them. I also have my real life bank accounts with them, too. Since starting this hobby, I have been in pretty much every bank that exists in my area and PNC is the best there is for everything. Their accounts are awesome, the fees are easily avoided. They have free atms everywhere. They even reimburse you if you use a non-pnc atm and the atm charges you. Their tellers are awesome at every one of their branches that I have gone to and they go out of their way to help.

With all that being said, everyone close your PNC accounts and stay out of their branches. lol.

wellll, since only 1 branch of wells will order me halves, it looks like i will have to check with the local PNCs around me to see if they will order me any if i open an account with them. 8-)

I have noticed the signs on the coin counters this week. One PNC lets me deposit bags of halves. And another branch even told me since their coin counters will be gone they will order bags for me, which is awesome cause I have been buying my own til now. I use their coin counters for times I don't fill my bags. Looks like now I will have to wait til my bags are full.

There are a couple around me (about 25+ miles away) but I don't know anyone that has a PNC account.

I heard an ad on the radio tonight advertising about their ATMs and how they are free and whatnot.

Considering I caught one of their coin machines on fire (it was smoking and the female who opened it when it was jammed burned her hand), I can see why. The machines there were great too, they even accepted dollar coins.

I asked at two branches today, and the coin counters are staying where I live, so this isnt true for everywhere. Unless the business teller at one branch and manager at another havnt been told yet, but I doubt it.

Yeah, I asked today what areas it affected and the teller was only able to confirm that it applies to my metropolitan area.

My brother called me from DC and told me it is the Washington DC area. Other areas may not change.

None of the PNC banks here in the west michigan area even have a coin counter at all~!
