Pocket Knife, dug at 9"

I dug this yesterday at about 9". I am looking for any information on from the period it was made and the best way to clean it. I soaked it in apple cider vinegar over night but then thought I should consult the forum. Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks.

Looks like an old Case knife to me.

That would make sense, Case makes them about 40 miles north of me.
