Point

A neighbor just found a point washedup on the beach of the western end of St. George Is. FL (Northern Gulf of Mexico). Any idea what it might be? Can he legally keep it? How does he learn more?

1st - I noticed this was your very first post Bob- so, Welcome Aboard! You didn't list your state (or country) in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forums: Select Your Area.... and selecting location information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country).

I see on the map the Eastpoint is just 4 miles north of St. George Island. I'm pretty sure someone owns that.

Seriously - by "point" are we assuming a flint arrow or spear head?

If it was found at the St. George Is State Park . . . ? I do see they allow you to keep sea shells, so I would venture a surface found flint point would be fair game as well.

General Florida state park rules only mention plants and animals. If artifacts are considered "park property" or not would be the question.

My friend owns property down there on St. George in The Plantation. There are quite a few midden/shell mounds on the bay side.
