I found these on 2 different shores of known native American sites in Maryland
Its not as odd as you'd think, I do a bit of rockhounding from time to time and I'll come across stones like this, just depends on how much exposure to flowing water the stones have experienced and for how long, most are washed up from the floor of the water source and deposited on the shore. I currently have a naturally polished stone about 1 ft by 1 1/2ft of quartz that's really neat but its not man made, just shaped from flowing water. It's odd they were the only ones polished out of a shore completely full of rocks
Thank you very muchI understand your position. I creek walk A Lot, looking for rocks to polish.
I find 1 or 2 that look polished about every time. Its just a combination of facts: material of the rock (quartz, jasper, etc), age of the rock, how long it was in water, etc. I’d recommend going back through the Native American Artifacts forum history and seeing what has been legitimately found. We’re always looking for proof of the rock having been worked by a human. It’s a great hobby. Keep looking and keep studying. You are on the right track. 🍀
