Wipe them with a alcohol pad like you would find at a hospital. I did that to a junk dime I had and it made it look brand new :). Took all the patina off my dime

i put my war nickels in vinegar with salt. Let them sit for 5 minutes. then take em out and sprinkle some baking soda on the coin. rub and it should come out

I just use a little powdered cleanser and a soft tooth brush--not the one I use to brush, makes the toothpaste taste funny. I think war nics look best when they are clean but not too clean. Easier to get that nostalgia connection, if you know what I mean.
