[Poll] Newb from Deep South Texas

Newb here. My 8 year old son and I have been watching a lot of diggers. We love the show. I promised him I would get him a metal detector when we bought a house. We're in the final stages of buying a home and looking into getting him a metal detector for Christmas.

I've been doing a lot of lurking today on different sites and decided I want to get him a Compadre detector. We'd be hitting up local parks, backroads, empty lots maybe even a beach. I know this isn't the Q&A section but would anyone be to help me with determining if I should get the 5.75 or 8 inch coil?

Welcome Rio Grande Valley Digger! Either coil will work well. The smaller coil is generally used in areas with a lot of trash, the larger coil is used to cover more ground.
