Has anyone tried to pan in Portage county I have been finding small flakes in the Northern part.

Here is some gold from Holmes county.
The gold is in the glacial gravel, the trick is finding a spot that has concentrated the heavies for a long time.
I sniped this from a gravel pit. Thousands of tons per day are processed in a sand and gravel operation, and there are spots where the heavies collect just like a stream.
The tough part is obtaining permission to crawl around in the crushing and washing machinery, potentially dangerous even when things are shut down.
3 grams here, 0.1 0z. Troy.
