Looks like a tool tag...I could be way off though. Cool finds!

Oh Sweet.. Is it a Slave Tag? or a Solider Tag

Looks to me like a cow ear tag from the early 1900's

I wonder if there was a mine in the area that you found it. I found a brass tag that was used in the coal mine in the early 1900s. This was the way the company knew that a man worked that day and loaded his ton of coal. They would get the tag off a board and nail it on a small board, put it in their buggy, and load the coal in on top of it. When they pulled the buggy out of the mine and dumped it, the tag would be on top. The foreman would then pick up the board and recorded the name and number on it and hang it up on the board for the next day. It was also a way to make sure all of the miners came out that shift. I have found a few of them and that is what it looks like. Hope this helps! Happy detecting!

My opinion is a tool or miner's tag. Nice find!
