Possible door knocker? Age?

Found this a while back at a house that was built in 1790...it was pretty deep. Looks like a door knocker to me, but wanted other opinions. Says 6000 on the back of it. And if anyone can help with a date range for it that would be helpful

Is that a hex nut on the back? That and the number on it don't give me a sense that it is really old. I would guess early to mid 20th C.

I think what you have is an ornate old hand crank. I can't tell you when it was made or what it went to but I'm thinking possibly a window crank from an automobile.

Bobby, I was leaning more towards a Victorian twist bell like this, but the curvature seems to be off for that. Possibly a knocker.
