possible drilled rock?

Nice creek cobble

Gotta look really close to see whether it's actually drilled by humans and not simply a result of an eroded inclusion (which is what I think it is, given the rock the hole is in- being rough and completely unworked.

Keep in mind too, that there's a guy on youtube who can play a bent tubular bake rack like a flute. That doesn't make the bike rack a musical instrument. ;) And I mean that in the nicest way. Keep in mind too that, logically speaking, if they (Native Americans)were going to take the time to drill a stone for any reason, it's would have been more carefully crafted in every way- not just a hole in a rock. Look at these things: (scroll down) Stone Age Artifacts Picture Gallery and also check this page out: Ground Stone Artifacts | The Office of the State Archaeologist

Granted, sometimes when things like that are found among a bunch of certifiable artifacts- especially if near a body of fishable water, it could have been used as a sinker- for a net- but that's just coincidental. Still isn't man-made. Just man-used- in that specific circumstance.

I go to this detail because very often, folks come on the forum with things just like that. Nope, you're not alone! And sooo many people want to believe they have an effigy or something-or-other. The fact remains that Native Americans had it going on when it came to creating beautifully crafted hard stone and soft stone artifacts (often true works of art). They didn't toss out rough-shod rocks that no one but a highly imaginative person could either 'see' or understand the meaning of/the purpose of. And although the manufacture of projectile points and such could be a pretty quick and expeditious task, the hard-stone items and not nearly as quick to make.

Just thought I'd go on and on- as I tend to do. Hope I didn't bore you;)
HH! Yakker
