Possible gun? Seminole War.

I found this underneath a pretty old oak tree. I really couldn't get it out, it's embedded in the roots. Any possibility of it being an old gun? I found it near a Seminole war site. If it's the real deal I'm going back for it!

Also, any idea on what this is?
