Possible kid's toy Ranger Badge

Found this in the uard of a 190ish home. I thought it was a faucet know at 1st. The back has a half inch nipple about the size of my thumb, smooth inside and out. Thanks for looking

I feel pretty certain this was a concho type decoration on a 1950's era kids cap gun holster. the slot would allow attachment to the holster with a colored plastic 'jewel' to cover it
